Alfred Clifford Jackson

Alfred Clifford Jackson was born in Bolton in 1915.

He was the son of Alfred Ernest and Mary Conway Jackson.of Tonge Moor, Bolton.

His father, Alfred Ernest Jackson, was a draughtsman in an iron foundry.

Alfred Jnr had a younger brother, Jeffrey Jackson.


Alfred's War

Alfred served in the RAF as a Sergeant (Air Bomber) with 576 Squadron. In 1943-44 the squadron flew Lancaster bombers from RAF Elsham Wolds in Lincolnshire. At 28 he would have been considered an 'old man' to be operational aircrew.

He was killed during a raid on Hanover, Germany on 14 January 1944.
