Hubert Russell Beswick

Hubert Russell Beswick was born in Bolton on 15 October 1922.

He was the son of Arthur and Mary A Beswick.

His father, Arthur Beswick, was a Bolton mill overlooker who moved with his family to Canada in the 1920s to manage a silk mill.

Known by his second name, Russell, he was educated at Cornwall Collegiate High School, Ontario, Canada but returned briefly to England and attended Bolton Church Institute between15 September 1938 (4F) and 31 March 1939 (4F).

He returned to Canada on 17 April 1939. His occupation is given as a chemist on the ship's passenger manifest.

Russell's War

Russell appears to have lost his life in a flying accident on 24 November 1943. No Squadron is given on the CWGC listing which would usually have been the case if he had been lost on an operation.

His name appears on the Runnymede Memorial, which is intended to commemorate Aircrew who have no known grave, although the article below suggests otherwise.
